Question to the HM Treasury:

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer, with reference to his statement published on 26 August 2026, “Chancellor statement on Iran sanctions”, what positive impact does he assess there has been as a result of support for the United States’s Operation Economic Outcast.

Coordinated international pressure plays an important, positive role in constraining Iran's ability to finance its nuclear programme and other malign and de-stabilising activities, while supporting efforts to secure a sustainable diplomatic solution. We will continue to work alongside the US, and other partners, to encourage Iran to engage in diplomatic discussions in good faith.
