Statement of Insolvency Practice 2 requires office-holders in administrations and insolvent liquidations to carry out investigations that are proportionate to the circumstances of the case, including whether there are grounds for recovery actions. Insolvency practitioners are expected to keep matters under review as new information becomes available during the insolvency process and to act in accordance with their professional obligations.

They also have statutory obligations to report to the Insolvency Service on the conduct of the directors of an insolvent company.
