As food policy is devolved, the four governments work together through the Food Compositional Standards and Labelling Common Framework to discuss issues of importance to consumers and businesses, and to seek to avoid or mitigate divergence and agree changes to regulations where possible. The UK Government's review of the UK Internal Market Act in 2025 implemented clear improvements to how the four governments work collaboratively through Common Frameworks to manage the UK internal market.
