Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, whether her Department’s work on reforming shared ownership will include measures to address restrictions on staircasing in rural areas.

Existing guidance on the arrangements for grant-funded Shared Ownership homes in Designated Protected Areas (DPA), including the process for seeking a waiver of the relevant grant conditions, is available on gov.uk here. Under this process, an application must be submitted to Homes England by the relevant local authority.
