Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what assessment her Department has made of the divergence in antimicrobial stewardship standards between Scottish livestock production and Brazilian beef imports, and how she plans to ensure equivalency in veterinary medicine tracking for products imported into Great Britain.

Beef imported into Great Britain must comply with our strict animal health and food safety requirements, in line with domestic import legislation. Defra has received guarantees from Brazil that beef exported to Great Britain is not from cattle treated with certain antimicrobial medicinal products, and Brazil is required to maintain an approved residue control plan for products of animal origin exported to Great Britain.
