Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:

To ask the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government, with reference to the answer of 20 April 2026, to Question 124771, on Political Parties: Donors, what assessment has been made of whether the revenue test will prevent the transfer of assets in defunct property companies or trusts.

The revenue test will form part of the new donor permissibility requirements for companies and limited liability partnerships (LLPs) under provisions included in the Representation of the People Bill. This test requires companies/LLPs to have sufficient revenue and has been introduced to ensure that companies/LLPs wishing to make a donation can demonstrate legitimate business activity. Companies that do not make sufficient revenue to fund their donation will not be eligible.
