Question

To ask His Majesty's Government what assessment they have made of the fact that The Times has reported on the content of the draft Statutory Code of Practice shared by the Equality and Human Rights Commission with the Minister for Women and Equalities, and of how the contents of that draft were made available to the media before being laid before Parliament.

The Government does not comment on leaks.

The Minister for Women and Equalities will consider the EHRC’s updated draft Code. If the decision is taken to approve it, the Minister will lay it before both Houses over a period of 40 sitting days, as per the process set out in Section 14 of the Equality Act 2006.

The Code becomes statutory only after the formal process set out in the legislation has been followed.
