Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask His Majesty's Government what plans they have to direct Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust to inform patients that their records were inappropriately accessed by staff members.

NHS England published new guidance on 8 July 2026, Stopping unlawful access to records guidance for health and care professionals, in an online-only format. It is the responsibility of the organisations who are data controllers, rather than the Department, to determine if patients, or the Information Commissioner’s Office, should be alerted in the case of a data breach or inappropriate access to patient records.
