Question to the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office:

To ask His Majesty's Government how much has been spent by (1) the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, and (2) other Government departments, on the negotiations with Mauritius relating to the British Indian Ocean Territory, including consequential costs of the agreement not progressing.

No central estimate is held of the cost of the negotiations started, and largely completed, under the previous government, and it would incur a disproportionate amount of time and cost to provide this information.
