The Government is taking significant steps to understand, mitigate and respond to cyber risks from advanced AI. As announced in the Budget, the Chancellor has allocated £120 million to strengthen the AI Security Institute's work identifying risks and mitigations, £60 million for Cyber Shield, which will use agentic AI to improve cyber defences, and £70 million for a National Exposure and Real-Time Vulnerability Centre to identify cyber vulnerabilities across critical infrastructure and the economy. We are also amending the Cyber Security and Resilience Bill and committing to further secondary legislation to protect essential services from AI agent loss-of-control risks.
