Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:
To ask His Majesty's Government what plans they have to ensure that Gaelic broadcasting will have the same certainty and sufficiency of funding as Welsh broadcasting under the next BBC Charter.
The Government recognises the valuable contribution that providers of minority language broadcasting have in our society and the important role they play in the preservation of our national heritage.
As set out in the BBC Charter Review Green Paper, the government is considering the most appropriate arrangements for providing sustainable funding for minority language broadcasting as part of the Charter Review. The Government is currently considering responses to the public consultation and will set out policy decisions in a White Paper, expected to be published later this year.
