Written Question
Infant Foods: Shortages
Tuesday 23rd May 2023

Asked by: Baroness Kingsmill (Labour - Life peer)

Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask His Majesty's Government how they plan to address the current shortage of baby milk formula.

Answered by Lord Markham - Shadow Minister (Science, Innovation and Technology)

The Department maintains close engagement with industry to ensure continued supply across a broad range of products. We are not aware of any significant issues with the supply of infant formula products. Within the infant formula sector, there are multiple suppliers and different types of formula which allows parents to switch to an alternative product or brand if their preferred option is unavailable.
