Written Question
Arms Trade: Ukraine
Thursday 9th February 2017

Asked by: Lord Oates (Liberal Democrat - Life peer)

Question to the Department for International Trade:

To ask Her Majesty’s Government whether it is their policy to prohibit the export of arms to the government of Ukraine.

Answered by Lord Price

There is no Arms Embargo on Ukraine. All Export Licence applications, including those for exports of arms to the government of Ukraine, are rigorously assessed against the Consolidated EU and National Arms Export Licensing Criteria, taking into account all prevailing circumstances at the time of application.

A Licence will not be granted if doing so, would contravene the Consolidated Criteria.
