Written Question
Overseas Aid
Monday 21st July 2014

Asked by: Lord Rooker (Labour - Life peer)

Question to the Department for International Development:

To ask Her Majesty's Government whether the Department for International Development has ever requested a salary or administration costs to expenditure ratio of organisations it has funded in the past four years.

Answered by Baroness Northover

DFID does not hold a central record of all requests made for data relating to salary and administration ratios for all the organisations it has funded.

DFID always seeks to achieve the best value for money in the funding it provides. Salary costs and administration costs are considered when making funding decisions to ensure value for money.

"My Lords, I declare an interest. I am a meat-eater, and I am personally offended if expected to eat meat from non-stunned food production animals. As such, I have no problem whatever with religious slaughter, but I do not wish to eat non-stunned meat, and therefore it should be labelled. …..."
