Tuesday 11th September 2018

Asked by: Louise Haigh (Labour - Sheffield, Heeley)

Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what steps his Department is taking to reduce hate speech and harassment on social media.

Answered by Margot James

The Government response to the Internet Safety Strategy consultation, published in May 2018, announced our intention to publish a joint DCMS-Home Office White Paper to set out more definitive steps on online harms and safety.

As part of the Government response, we published a draft version of our social media code of practice. As required by the Digital Economy Act 2017, we are now consulting with social media providers and others on the code. We will set out further information relating to the code as part of our forthcoming White Paper.

Written Question
Sports: Facilities
Wednesday 27th June 2018

Asked by: Louise Haigh (Labour - Sheffield, Heeley)

Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, what fiscal plans he has to support the building of new integrated community services.

Answered by Tracey Crouch

We have received representations on the Wellness Hub proposal from Sport England and ukactive and are working with both organisations to understand the implications of the proposal and how best to take this forward.

As set out in its Sporting Future strategy, government is committed to investing in facilities that are designed and built around customer need and that reflect people's preferences for how they want to engage with sport and physical activity. The strategy is clear that Sport England investment in major sports and physical activity facility projects should include a presumption in favour of co-locating sports and physical activity facilities with other types of community facilities to make it easier for people to get active.
