Written Question
Personal Independence Payment
Friday 5th September 2014

Asked by: Alec Shelbrooke (Conservative - Wetherby and Easingwold)

Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, when applications for personal independent payment will be available online.

Answered by Lord Harper

Whilst Personal Independence Payment (PIP) claims are not currently available online, part of our longer term plan is to develop an online claim service for PIP that meets the needs of our claimants. It is important that we get the design of this right before moving to implementation.

"The hon. Gentleman mentions rising food inflation, but let us not forget that we have just knocked 10p off the price of a litre of fuel. That 10p was in the Opposition’s plans and would have created extra inflation.
