Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, whether he has had recent discussions with local councils on the provision of warm spaces; and whether his Department plans to provide financial support to local councils to provide warm spaces in winter 2022.
Answered by Paul Scully
We have taken decisive action through our Energy Bill Guarantee Scheme and Energy Bill Relief Scheme, to ensure that domestic and non-domestic energy users across the United Kingdom are protected from excessively high energy bills. The Local Government Financial Settlement for 2022/ 2023 makes available an extra £3.7 billion to councils in England, the majority of which is un-ringfenced allowing council to determine local priorities. We have also made available £1.4 billion through the household support fund. Decisions on provision of warms spaces are taken at a local level. My department continues to engage regularly with partners in local government.

Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, what steps he is taking to provide housing support for refugees who came to Britain under the Ukrainian visa scheme in April 2022.
Answered by Andrew Stephenson
We are working closely with local councils to understand where pressures may be and are actively exploring options to find suitable long-term accommodation for the Ukrainians who are likely to stay in this country beyond their initial sponsorship period.

Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, what assessment he has made of the potential merits of transporting construction materials and debris via the River Thames during the (a) construction of the UK Holocaust Memorial and Learning Centre and (b) restoration of the parliamentary estate.
Answered by Kemi Badenoch - Leader of HM Official Opposition
The UK Holocaust Memorial project team has held preliminary discussions with representatives from the R&R programme to discuss potential efficiencies in using the River Thames for both construction projects. The different timetables of each project may limit opportunities for cost-effective co-operation.
