Leaving the European Union

"Does the hon. Gentleman agree that if there is a further vote, on this question or any other, we should get to the bottom of the National Crime Agency inquiry, clean up not just the funding but some of the messaging that came out, and learn the lessons from that?..."

Written Question
Economic Analysis
Thursday 6th September 2018

Asked by: Catherine West (Labour - Hornsey and Friern Barnet)

Question to the Department for Exiting the European Union :

To ask the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, if he will publish the Government's full economic analysis of the effect on the UK of leaving the EU without a deal in advance of the vote in Parliament on the UK leaving the EU.

Answered by Robin Walker

The Government has confirmed that when we bring forward the vote on the final deal, we will ensure that Parliament is presented with the appropriate analysis to make an informed decision. This will be the right time for the government to present its work. It will allow parliament to scrutinise analysis based on the most accurate assessment we can make.

Written Question
Brexit: White Papers
Wednesday 18th July 2018

Asked by: Catherine West (Labour - Hornsey and Friern Barnet)

Question to the Department for Exiting the European Union :

To ask the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, at what time on 12 July 2018 his Department released the White Paper, The future relationship between the UK and the EU, Cm 9593 to (a) the media (b) parliamentarians (c) Select Committee Chairs (f) the public.

Answered by Robin Walker

The White Paper on the Future Relationship between the United Kingdom and the European Union was published on the GOV.UK website and shared in a letter to the Chairs of the Exiting the European Union, the European Scrutiny and the Lords European Union committees at the moment the Secretary of State stood up to make his statement.

Copies of the White Paper were put in the libraries of both Houses at 0930 on 12 July but due to an administrative error, the White Paper was not distributed to Members ahead of the debate. There was no intent on the Government’s part to withhold information from the House and the Secretary of State has apologised for this oversight.
