Mr Bailey
Providing defensive counter air to prevent attacks on airports and civilian structures is a fairly significant offering. That is essential to providing safety, support and sanctuary to the people who are working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to support the Government of Yemen.

I support the decision to stand alongside our allies in Saudi Arabia, but additional deployment requires sufficient resourcing. Will the Minister confirm that despite the former Secretary of State, now the Chancellor, saying in his resignation letter that the Ministry of Defence needs 3% by 2030, the MOD spokesman’s comments yesterday state that that commitment will not be met by that date?
Mr Bailey
When we make such deployments, they are taken—[Interruption.] Well, the urgent question, and the reason I am here, is about our deployment in Yemen. In response to the question, the thing that the hon. Member needs to be assured of is that our military commanders are content that they can meet the deployment and the other tasks that we have set out for them.
