Written Question
Infrastructure
Wednesday 30th November 2016

Asked by: Christian Matheson (Independent - City of Chester)

Question to the Wales Office:

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, what discussions he has had with (a) his Ministerial colleagues and (b) the Chancellor of the Exchequer on future infrastructure development in Wales.

Answered by Guto Bebb

This Government is prioritising high-value investment, particularly in infrastructure and innovation, to drive economic growth and raise productivity. At Autumn Statement, the Chancellor increased the Welsh Government’s capital budget by £436m. This is in addition to the £500m in borrowing powers we committed to three years ago. These measures enable the Welsh Government to invest directly in modernising Wales’ infrastructure for the benefit of people throughout Wales.
