Member for Barnsley Central on 24 November 2022, Official Report, column 432, when his Department plans to publish its assessment on a new railway station for Bradford.

In my letter to the Transport Select Committee in December last year, I confirmed that I am looking at the case for better connections to Bradford and hope to set out further details in the Government’s full response to the Committee’s report on the Integrated Rail Plan.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, when his Department will publish the terms of reference for a study into high speed rail between Sheffield and Leeds.

The Terms of Reference for the HS2 to Leeds Study will be published soon.

In the meantime, the Department has been working with Network Rail and key local stakeholders - including West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Leeds City Council –to prepare for the work anticipated in the HS2 to Leeds Study.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, how many Ministerial meetings have taken place with Peel Group and/or their representatives regarding Doncaster Sheffield Airport since January 2022.

The Government is incredibly disappointed that Peel Group has announced the closure of Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

The Government has engaged with local stakeholders throughout the period of the review and since Peel Group announced its decision to close the airport. This has included several ministerial meetings since the end of July, including four meetings with Peel Group, as well as some with the Mayor of South Yorkshire and Mayor of Doncaster City Council, and with Members from both the House of Commons and House of Lords.

Officials from the Department for Transport have also been in regular contact with all interested parties, including weekly discussions with representatives from Peel Group, the South Yorkshire Combined Authority and Doncaster City Council.

The Government remains engaged with all parties we will continue to encourage local leaders and Peel Group to work together and find a solution for the site which will benefit local people and the region’s economy.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what meetings Ministers in her Department have held with Rt hon. and hon. Members to discuss the potential closure of Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
