EU Internal Trade
Thursday 15th December 2016

Asked by: Douglas Chapman (Scottish National Party - Dunfermline and West Fife)

Question to the Department for Exiting the European Union :

To ask the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, whether it is his policy to retain preferential access to the EU single market by continuing to make financial contributions to the EU after the UK leaves the EU.

Answered by Robin Walker

We are focussed on securing the best possible deal for the United Kingdom as we leave the European Union. Once we have left, it will be for the United Kingdom to decide how taxpayers' money is spent. We will seek the best access to and ability to trade within the single market for all UK companies.
