Russian Interference in UK Politics
"I am grateful to the Chairman of the Select Committee, and of course we must keep a sense of proportion. I am quoting from a well-established institute and I want to give another point of view in this debate, which I think is fair enough.
I mentioned that the majority …..."Edward Leigh - View Speech

Russian Interference in UK Politics
"I will not give way; I have got to finish now. The paranoid tendency to see a red under every bed is very much alive, albeit changed, and there is an explanation for such paranoia. Look at Trump’s victory, and look at the success of Brexit in the referendum. Things …..."Edward Leigh - View Speech

Question
to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what plans his Department has to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the 1620 voyage of the Mayflower.
Answered by David Evennett
The Anniversary of the sailing of the Mayflower is a wonderful opportunity to reignite the interest that American citizens have in our nations' shared history.
Plymouth City Council are leading the commemorations for this anniversary - representing the beginning of one of the most enduring alliances in the world. The Government has made over £500,000 available to support the Council's ambition for this celebration to be a year of both national and international significance for the city.

Question
to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, what representations he has received on funding for culture in the East Midlands.
Answered by Lord Vaizey of Didcot
The Arts Council’s announcements on their 2015-2018 portfolio continue a trend in the reduction of the share of funding that is going to organisations in London, and includes investment in retaining talent and boosting production capacity outside of London. This includes the East Midlands which I will be visiting later this month.
