To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, whether she plans to introduce a voluntary exit programme for civil servants serving in her Department.

As of 18 November 2022, my Rt Hon. Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade has no established plans to introduce a Voluntary Exit Scheme (VES) Programme for Civil Servants within the Department for International Trade (DIT).

To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, how much their Department spent on external recruitment consultants in 2021.

The Department for International Trade received support from external recruitment consultants for three Senior Civil Servant recruitment campaigns in 2021. The total cost of this support was £84,568.75. This support is used for when the department is looking to recruit for roles that require a niche skillset, or when it is difficult to attract external candidates.
No external recruitment consultant support was received for recruitment at other grades.

To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, if they will publish the payments made to officials in their Department for relocation to government offices outside London in 2021.

In 2021, the Department for International Trade (DIT) paid a total of £14,000 to officials who relocated to DIT offices outside of London through the cross-Government Places for Growth programme (PfG).

To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, whether (a) she and (b) other Ministers of her Department have used personal email addresses to conduct Government business.

Ministers will use a range of digital forms of communication for discussions in line with relevant guidance on information handling and security.
Ministers will have informal conversations from time to time, in person or remotely, and significant content relating to government business from such discussions is passed back to officials.
The Cabinet Office has previously published guidance on how information is held for the purposes of access to information, and how formal decisions are recorded for the official record. Ministers are also given advice on the security of electronic communications.
