Jobcentre Plus Offices: Closure

"Lewisham has a higher than average unemployment rate, yet the Government are proposing to close the main jobcentre in Rushey Green. Written Question
Housing Benefit
Monday 9th March 2015

Asked by: Heidi Alexander (Labour - Swindon South)

Question to the Department for Work and Pensions:

To ask the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, what his most recent estimate is of the number of working households claiming housing benefit.

Answered by Steve Webb

Latest figures show that there are just over 1 million in-work housing benefit claims. This reflects the fact that under this Government the number of out-of-work Housing Benefit claimants has fallen. This is to be expected, as more people are getting back into work than ever before.
