I was saddened to hear the news that Nigel Lawson had passed away, and my thoughts are with his family and friends. He was a pioneering Chancellor in the 1980’s who helped create economic growth and prosperity.
Great to join @ElizabethGlinka for the recording of @PoliticsMids this afternoon with @TaiwoOwatemi and @EddieCrouch. Will be broadcast this Sunday at 10am on @BBCOne in the West Midlands. https://t.co/RuZEYlfelq
It was great to see enthusiasm for joined up working across the health and care sectors during the course of this inquiry at @CommonsHealth. Important that ICS’s have the autonomy they need to address local issues, and have representation from public health bodies. https://t.co/uJUU4TtjPk
As @SciTechgovuk marks its first 50 days, it’s important we unleash the potential of Artificial Intelligence whilst also ensuring it is sufficiently regulated and accountable. Today’s White Paper can help AI boost our economic growth and deliver the high-skilled jobs we need. https://t.co/XeSpP3SCcA
As an MP I hear many stories from constituents about how anti-social behaviour causes misery for them and their communities. I welcome the tougher measures being announced today so that people can feel safe in the place they call home. https://t.co/BG9gmJq1CK
3/3: I know many people across Halesowen & Rowley Regis will welcome the extension of the Energy Price Guarantee, a freeze in fuel duty, more doctors to cut waiting lists and introducing 30 hours of free childcare a week for children from nine months old.
2/3: I welcome the extra investment and devolution of powers that will be coming to the West Midlands that @andy4wm has strived hard for. Looking forward to more positive investment in housing, transport infrastructure and a new ‘Levelling Up Zone’ in our region.
1/3: A positive budget from @Jeremy_Hunt today that outlines a plan for growth. As we emerge from the challenges that recent global crises have caused, it’s pleasing to hear that we should avoid a technical recession and we can get on with delivering the priorities that matter. https://t.co/rTUSVvueb6
Pleased to see @JamesCleverly agree with me yesterday that the UK’s ‘soft power’ is a strategic advantage and a force for good on the global stage. Important we build and maintenance key alliances as we face challenges from authoritarian regimes. https://t.co/VWY7wUMfN8
Since the last Integrated Review there has been a change to the threats we face from 🇷🇺 and 🇨🇳. I am pleased that an extra £5bn will be committed to defence spending as part of our Integrated Review Refresh, as well as moving onto the next phase of our #AUKUS pact. #IR23
