I absolutely join my hon. Friend on congratulating Richard Ledger and the successes of the Long Eaton Town Deal Board. As he knows, through our Pride in Place programme, we are helping communities to take back control. This goes to show what can happen when communities are in the driving seat, have the resources that they need, and have fantastic individuals like Richard Ledger, who can make best use of the resources and show leadership on these matters. Should he wish to apply for an Adjournment debate on the subject, I am sure that he and other Members could use it to speak about the good things that are happening in many of our constituencies.

Residents in Vernons Mews in Nuneaton, managed by Marston management company, are facing homelessness for the third time following a prohibition order that was first issued in August 2025 by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service. For months, I have been working cross-agency to tackle myriad issues, yet a temporary fire system installed back in August 2025, which the fire safety crew deemed inappropriate for the residential building that it is in, is still in place and there are no permanent solutions. May I join the call for Government time to be given to the issues of tenancy management companies, and will my right hon. Friend please update me on what further steps can be taken to address these failures?

My hon. Friend is right to raise that concern. As she points out, similar concerns were raised earlier. I am sorry to hear of the issues faced by her constituents and I understand her frustration. We are committed to strengthening the regulation of managing agents to drive the standard of their service. I will make sure that Ministers are aware of the case. I hope that they will be able to provide her with an update on our plans, but I have also listened to her call and that of others for time to hear further about these matters.

I hear what the hon. Lady says. Many of us have met constituents with fluctuating illnesses like the ones she describes, and I understand that this is a worrying time for people. We have had the Green Paper. We will shortly bring forward a piece of legislation to consider further the eligibility criteria for the personal independence payment, and I am sure that she will want to debate them.

Yesterday I hosted an event for 70 leading experts ahead of World Continence Week. This included campaigners for the Bins for Boys campaign, which aims to ensure that everybody has the dignity of being able to dispose of items like stoma bags, catheters and pads. One of my guests was Pete Reed OBE, a three-time gold medallist and retired lieutenant commander who is now a patient advocate. He highlighted the fact that we do not have suitable bins in our male toilets. Could the Leader of the House please support the campaign to ensure that bins are available for the dignity of our guests?

My hon. Friend raises the really important issue of World Continence Week and the availability of appropriate bins to dispose of things in men’s toilets as well as in women’s. I am sure that we can take up those issues.

I thank my hon. Friend for his leadership on the issue of Walleys quarry, which he has raised with me a number of times in business questions. I know that he has had meetings with Ministers, the Environment Agency and others, and I am sure that his leadership on sorting out that terrible situation will be of great comfort to his constituents.

Footage released yesterday appears to show 200 horrific hours of repeated animal abuse at an abattoir in my constituency. I have been working with residents and a multitude of agencies to try to ensure safety and compliance since well before my election to this place. Many now feel outraged that the regulatory systems have failed even to notice, let alone address, the repeated breaches. Will the Leader of the House work with me to establish why it took an activist to highlight those issues while my constituents in Old Arley and those animals continue to suffer, and to find ways of ensuring that there is tighter scrutiny and swifter action, and that businesses are closed when standards are not met?

We take a zero-tolerance approach to breaches of animal welfare, such as those that my hon. Friend describes. The Food Standards Agency has already taken action, but if that has not been sufficient, I will ensure that it does more.
