Question to the Northern Ireland Office:
To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, what estimate he has made of the number of new arms-length bodies his Department plans to establish once the UK has left the EU.
Answered by James Brokenshire
My Department has made no estimate on the number of new arms-length bodies we would establish once the UK has left the EU.
While there are a number of agencies whose functions will transfer over to the UK, almost all of these will be absorbed into existing Government organisations.
The Government policy ensures that new bodies are only set up as a last resort, when the core department or existing bodies are unable to carry out the proposed functions.
