@theAndrewSharpe Not sure where you live in Scotland but if you really have to drive to Edinburgh can I suggest you might fiind the city's park & ride system convenient? Recommend particularly Ingliston and then you can take a tram direct to city centre. Free parking, tram ticket £1.80.
@theAndrewSharpe One of the great things about Edinburgh is we have a publicly owned bus company which is so successful that it doesn't need public subsidy, in fact returns dividend to councils with fares cheaper than elsewhere in Scotland. More of that across Scotland could reduce fares surely?
As in other places, the (modest) initiatives to promote sustainable transport which have been introduced in Edinburgh during pandemic have faced all sorts of misinformed opposition. Good to see local community groups getting together to support the changes and to call for more! https://t.co/t9aEf0i3q6

Two interesting talks here. Case law update with a focus on procedural fairness in immigration and asylum matters; and the Shamima Begum case raising important issues about the scope of judicial review, the role of SIAC, and the powers of the Home Secretary @FarymaB @tf_chambers https://t.co/skjMNFclrK
I say this not to get at @UKLab but precisely because I am a Labour member & I want to see Labour-led governments in office pursuing progressive policies. Yet because of attachment to FPTP we shut ourselves out of gov for most of this time. And our country suffers @Neal_Compass
Of course, if PR had been in place earlier, we might never have got a Tory government in 2010 - Ed Miliband as PM in 2015, no Brexit referendum in 1st place. FPTP is NOT good for progressive politics in the UK. Immense damage done by failure to change that.
Yet another reminder that if @UKLab could have brought itself to have backed PR, Tories would have been well short of majority in 2019 GE. There would have been a maj for a referendum on the Brexit 'deal', we wouldn't have had Johnson as PM - & gd chance of having stopped Brexit https://t.co/Wuhc5eMJk9
A perceptive comment here about the #Alba wheeze. An obvious flaw even in its stated objective. https://t.co/nU8v94UcFx
