Question to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government:
To ask the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, how many local councils have local plans in place.

216 of 336 local planning authorities (64%) have adopted and 276 (82%) published a Local Plan. In its Productivity Plan published on 10 July the Government reiterated the importance of a plan-led system, and set out the clear expectation that all areas should produce a Local Plan by early 2017.

216 of 336 local planning authorities (64%) have adopted and 276 (82%) published a Local Plan. Approximately 59% of England’s land area is covered by adopted Local Plans and 82% covered by published plans. In the Productivity Plan published on 10 July the Government reiterated the importance of a plan-led system and set out the clear expectation that all areas should produce a Local Plan by early 2017.
