Question
to the Department for International Trade:
To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what assessment his Department has made of recent trends in UK Trade Statistics; and if he will make a statement.
Answered by Greg Hands
In 2017, compared with 2016, UK exports of goods and services increased by 11.3% in nominal terms, faster than imports (up 9.3%). As a result the trade deficit narrowed by £7.0bn, to £33.7bn.

to the Department for International Trade:
To ask the Secretary of State for International Trade, what assessment he has made of export opportunities for the UK in non-EU countries.

- Shadow Parliamentary Under Secretary (Work and Pensions)
The Department for International Trade (DIT) runs nearly 200 export High Value Campaigns, across a range of countries, the majority being non-EU, focusing government resources where they add the most value for the benefit of the whole of the UK. Since the election in June, DIT has been reviewing its exports strategy which partners across the world working closely with the FCO and DfID to look beyond traditional markets to support wider government objectives.
