European Union (Notification of Withdrawal) Bill
"Given that triggering article 50 is an inevitable consequence of the result of the referendum, does the Secretary of State agree that although it may be honourable for MPs who voted against having a referendum in the first place to vote against triggering article 50—that would be entirely consistent—it would …..."Philip Davies - View Speech

Question
to the Department for Exiting the European Union :
To ask the Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union, what recent estimate his Department has made of the average amount of tariffs that would have to be paid annually by (a) UK businesses to access the EU market and (b) EU businesses to access the UK market according to current World Trade Organisation rules; and if he will make a statement.
Answered by Robin Walker
If the UK were to leave the EU without alternative trading arrangements in place, WTO rules would require that trade between the UK and the EU would be subject to Most-Favoured Nation (MFN) treatment for goods and services. The average amount of tariffs that would have to be paid would depend on MFN commitments. However, as the Prime Minister has said, we want to give British companies the maximum freedom to trade and operate in the European market – and let European businesses do the same here.

The Government wants to give UK companies the maximum freedom to trade with and operate in the Single Market – and let European businesses do the same here.
The Department for Exiting the European Union, working with officials across government, continues to undertake wide-ranging data analysis looking at over 50 sectors as well as cross-cutting regulatory issues. The Department is also engaging widely with representatives from sectors. This work will inform the UK's position for the upcoming negotiations with the EU.

Article 50
"If the referendum was no more than advisory, it makes one wonder why some people who now claim it was only advisory campaigned so hard during the referendum campaign. Triggering article 50 is just the start of the process, so if the Supreme Court does not overturn the perverse decision …..."Philip Davies - View Speech

Oral Answers to Questions
"Membership of the single market means accepting EU laws, having to accept rulings from the European Court of Justice, probably still making contributions to the EU budget, and accepting free movement of people, all of which flies in the face of what the British people voted for in the referendum. …..."Philip Davies - View Speech

Exiting the European Union
"I congratulate my right hon. Friend on his appointment. There could be nobody better for the job. In order to help the Opposition, who have badly lost touch with the working-class voters they once claimed to represent, will he agree that people voted to leave in the referendum because they …..."Philip Davies - View Speech
