Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what funding will be made available to Salford City Council in financial years (a) 2015-16 and (b) 2016-17 to develop flood defences along the river Irwell.

Between 2015/16 and 2016/17 £5.635 million of Government funding has been allocated to the Salford Flood Alleviation Scheme, with £5.047 million allocated in 2015/16 and £0.588 million in 2016/17. This investment is for the second flood storage area at Castle Irwell in Salford, which will reduce the risk of flooding to 2000 properties.
