Tuesday 13th January 2015

Asked by: Richard Burden (Labour - Birmingham, Northfield)

Question to the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs:

To ask the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, what steps she is taking to support UK dairy farmers who are producing milk without the use of intensive indoor practices.

Answered by George Eustice

There is a place in UK agriculture for all sustainable production systems that meet our comprehensive environmental and animal health and welfare standards.

The Government is taking a number of steps to support UK dairy farmers. We are promoting UK exports, and pushing for better Country of Origin Labelling. The new £141 million Countryside Productivity Scheme will include measures to help dairy farmers.
