Nuclear Safeguards Bill

"No, this is not dismissing them either. Are Members honestly saying that when a question is asked and someone answers it, weight can only be given to that answer if it compounds the premise of the question that was raised? [Interruption.] That might be how the Scottish National party goes …..."

Nuclear Safeguards Bill

"My hon. Friend gets the point, because he takes a Conservative approach to the operation of the economy. People in Britain want to buy something. We do not make it, but some countries overseas do. But we have also heard this, “We make too much for our domestic market and …..."

Written Question
Post Offices
Monday 20th February 2017

Asked by: Simon Hoare (Conservative - North Dorset)

Question to the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy:

To ask the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, what assessment he has made of the continued financial viability of the Post Office network; and whether he plans to change the level of funding provided to that network.

Answered by Margot James

The Department regularly engages with the Post Office on issues affecting the network including on the levels of investment, its overall profitability and financial stability of the business.

The Government expects the Post Office to continue to need funding beyond 2018, and we are currently working with Post Office Limited to evaluate its future strategy and establish appropriate funding levels.
