Question to the Department of Health and Social Care:

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, what (a) recent discussions he has had with Health ministers in the devolved governments and (b) progress has been made on ensuring full access to NHS patient records in all constituent parts of the UK.

There have been no recent discussions with devolved administrations on access to National Health Service patient records. Access to patient records in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is a matter for devolved administrations. General practitioner practices in England have been required to offer online access to their patients’ detailed coded records since 1 April 2016. This includes items such as allergies, adverse reactions, medications, test results, problems and diagnoses and immunisations.
