The Tories have broken the asylum system by downgrading the seniority of asylum decision-makers, leading to worse decisions & more appeals. Labour has a plan to rewire the Home Office, get asylum seekers out of costly hotels, end the small boat crossings, and fix this mess.

PM must correct the record in line with the requirements of the Ministerial Code. It is utterly wrong to say that the Conservative Govt has reduced the backlog when Home Office data shows it is now 166,000 - 8x higher than under Labour in 2010. I've asked the Prime Minister to correct the record - in line with the Ministerial Code - after the statistics regulator ruled that the asylum backlog had increased by 147,000 since 2010 (not 'halved' as PM claimed!) Under the Tories it is 8x higher than under Labour, at 166,000 https://t.co/Q5ak3Xn8hW

We need our steel - for national resilience, well-paid jobs, and to support the transition to the green economy. Offshoring production, good jobs and carbon emissions will solve none of the economic or environmental challenges we face. Great piece from @benglaze @DailyMirror.

Britain was the cradle of the first industrial revolution and we have the potential to lead the way on the new Green Industrial Revolution - but only if the UK Govt backs Green Steel. Liberty Steel's progress in Australia illustrates what can be achieved: https://t.co/bNTv1pbXMQ

Britain owes Afghans who have served British interests a debt of gratitude. Yet too many are still stuck in Afghanistan. And for those who have made it here 'Operation Warm Welcome' has become Operation Cold Shoulder. This account speaks volumes. https://t.co/HTAmdABBhd

'Red Shift' from @LabourTogether is now out. It points Labour towards a politics that can unite the electorate and rebuild Britain, grounded in ‘security’ - from secure work to safe streets & a stronger nation. Excellent report, reflecting many @Lab_Renaissance findings. https://t.co/eY2900Dfxz
