To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what estimate she has made of the (a) number of illegal migrants who have entered the UK by crossing the English Channel and (b) proportion of such migrants that have been returned to France in the last 12 months.

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, what estimate she has made of the average waiting time for decisions on settled status applications; and what plans she has to reduce waiting times for those decisions.

Applications for settled status are generally completed within 5 working days.
Applications may take longer in instances where further evidence is required, or an application is made via the postal route. In these instances, processing times may vary based on how quickly the information is provided.

The number of valid British National (Overseas) passports in circulation as at 31st December 2018 was 169,653.

In 2018 Her Majesty’s Passport office received 20,440 British National Overseas applications. Up to the 31st March 2019 Her Majesty’s Passport office has received 6,448 British National Overseas applications.
