Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what recent discussions he has had with UK airlines and their staff on maintaining the Posting of Workers Directive in the event of the UK leaving the EU.
Answered by John Hayes
The Secretary of State for Transport has discussed a number of issues relating to aviation and the UK’s exit from the EU with industry stakeholders. The Government is considering carefully all the potential implications arising for our aviation industry. Until we leave, EU law will continue to apply to the UK, alongside national rules.

Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether his Department has received assurances from Volkswagen that fixes made in response to problems with emissions testing will be completed in 2016.
Answered by John Hayes
The Government continues to take the unacceptable actions of the Volkswagen Group extremely seriously and I have pressed the company to ensure that they are implementing the technical solutions as quickly as possible for UK consumers.
I recently summoned Volkswagen UK to a meeting where they set out their intention to have “fixed” 90% of affected UK vehicles by June 2017. To date, of the 1.2 million affected vehicles in the UK, 479,000 have had a technical solution approved and approximately 180,000 have been “fixed”.

Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what recent discussions he has had with representatives of Vauxhall on safety standards of the Zafira model; and if he will make a statement.
Answered by Andrew Jones
I have not had any recent discussions with representatives from Vauxhall about the Zafira. However, the DVSA is leading on this and has met, corresponded with and continues to work with Vauxhall on the Zafira issue. The DVSA has overseen two safety recalls and corresponding actions to protect consumers.

Question to the Department for Transport:
To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment he has made of the potential effect of the UK leaving the EU on implementation of the Single European Sky programme.
Answered by Robert Goodwill
It is too early to assess the impacts of the outcome of the EU Referendum for any particular sector, including aviation. The Prime Minister has made it clear that at present we remain a member of the EU with all the rights and obligations this entails and that it will be for the next administration to determine the terms of our exit from the European Union.
