Russian Interference in UK Politics

"I agree entirely with my hon. Friend. I do not know whether she has, but I have engaged in exchanges with David Jones—clearly, I will not continue to do so—because whoever he or she is was a very prolific tweeter during that campaign. So, yes, we need to be aware …..."

"I thank the right hon. Gentleman for that intervention. That is another aspect of this issue that I am not going to be able to dwell on at great length in the few minutes that remain.

Facebook is doing work on ad transparency, and I welcome that. Personally, I would …..."

Russian Interference in UK Politics

"My short answer is, no, I do not think it is. Clearly, that needs to be acted on. It is not just about political parties; it is also about tracking the money associated with political movements, such as the leave campaign or—this may not be controversial for the right hon. …..."

I will conclude by reading out the …..."

Written Question
Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport: Brexit
Thursday 7th December 2017

Asked by: Tom Brake (Liberal Democrat - Carshalton and Wallington)

Question to the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, how much time her Department spent in compiling impact assessments and other material for the sectoral analyses it provided to the Department for Exiting the European Union; how many FTE staff hours were dedicated to that compilation; and on what date her Department started and concluded its work on that compilation.

Answered by Matt Hancock

The Government has collated over 800 pages of analysis for the committees. As we have said before, the “58 impact assessments” do not exist in the form Parliament requested. We have taken time to bring together information in a way that meets Parliament’s specific ask.

With regards to how many FTE staff hours were dedicated to the compilation, we do not hold this information in the form requested.

The Department for Exiting the European Union has satisfied the motion passed in the House of Commons by bringing together information for these reports. The Committee on Exiting the EU voted on Wednesday 6 December that the Government’s response to the resolution of the House of 1 November has complied with the terms of that resolution.

Leaving the EU: Data Protection

"The Minister is being very generous with his time. I am sure that he is aware that the people of Gibraltar are concerned about the impact of the disruption of data flows. Gibraltar holds many data servers, and people there are very concerned that there might be longer-term impacts on …..."
