Question to the Department for Transport:

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, whether any distributional analysis has been undertaken by (a) the Government and (b) HS2 Ltd of the passenger benefits that will accrue to towns in each region of the UK from High Speed Two.

Answered by Paul Maynard

A distributional analysis of the benefits from HS2 was conducted by HS2 Ltd in 2017 and provided to the Department as part of its ‘Economic Case Advice’. This could be found at Appendix 5 of this advice, and published at the following web address:
