Make companies legally obliged to pay mandatory breaks for professional drivers

LGV and PCV Drivers are legally obliged to take unpaid breaks at very specific times, and can be fined, prosecuted or contracts terminated if they fail to do so. Despite being unpaid, the drivers responsibility for the vehicle and load still remain, just so long as they are officially “not working”

It’s considered that a break is time off of work but for a professional Driver this is not the case. When stopping for a break the best scenario they can hope for is to be at a services. Not ideal but when considered that drivers also have to stop in lay-bys at small roads, it neither desirable or relaxing
In a 10 hour day, a Driver will typically be deducted 45mins pay because of his mandatory breaks, when they have barely left the place of work for even a few minutes
