The Government has started a consultation on banning electronic training aids for cats and dogs. It is vital that containment systems do not get caught up in any ban. These systems save the lives of thousands of cats and dogs each year. Over 250,000 cats & countless dogs are run over on our roads.

In 2007 DEFRA commissioned a study into the use of Electronic Pulse Training Aids. This study specifically excluded containment fences. The highly regarded Companion Animal Welfare Council's in-depth study of June 2012 concluded that it was not possible to formulate an evidence-based argument against the use of Electric Pulse Training Aids (EPTAs). In 2016 research from Lincoln University into cat containment "No evidence of long-term welfare problems with electronic containment of cats"
