Ringfence money so councils can effectively promote cloth through well resourced libraries, liaison with antenatal/ postnatal services and incentives. One baby will produce app. 1 ton of waste*** which takes > 200 years to biodegrade. Disposable nappies also have greater environmental costs due to the production process. Those who use cloth tend to switch to reuseable wipes and bags, further reducing use of single use items.
