World Rugby is working to change the global rugby calendar and introducing a new international competition to include the Six Nations. The government must take action to protect the broadcast rights for the tournament and ensure it continues to be broadcast live on free to air TV.

The government currently provides funding through various sources to the Unions of the home nations and so there should be an expectation that the Unions give something back.
Furthermore live sport is disappearing from free to air TV and it is important from a public health perspective to ensure sport is available to a wide audience to encourage participation and exercise.
