Newly Qualified Paramedics should receive Band 6 salary in line with equal pay.

Newly Qualified Paramedics seeking employment are forced to accept a reduced salary because they are new. After several months it has been recognised that there has not been an adequate disparity between NQP’s and band 6 Paramedic job descriptions to justify the current pay difference.

The pay difference between NQP (band 5) and band 6 Paramedics is unjustifiable and needs to be addressed in line with equal pay law. You are entitled to the same pay as anyone doing the same or broadly similar job, or a job of equal value, regardless of gender. Whilst morale and mental health within the health service is at a record high, feelings of discrimination and being undervalued as an “NQP” are should not be ignored.
