Family benefits, including housing benefit, require individuals/parents to work a minimum number of hours. The Coronavirus emergency measures may prevent the minimum hours being met, especially in jobs that don’t protect income when absent or on a zero hours contract. To prevent an increase in homelessness I want the govt to put in place measures to protect benefits by removing the test for hours worked should a Coronavirus emergency be invoked, especially for housing benefit.
