Ban discrimination in private rental sector towards people on benefits.

It has become very difficult to find a landlord/letting agent that accepts a tenant that is on receipt of benefits including benefits top up for those on low wages. The Government should have an input on this especially as there is a severe shortage of council properties available to those in need.

This will relieve pressure on both local councils and those most in need. I am a single mum who got made redundant while I was pregnant and evicted from previous accommodation due to the pregnancy. I currently live in a tiny one bedroom and desperately need somewhere bigger. I’ve been searching for the past two years however get turned away due to me being on universal credit despite working part time. This in my opinion is discrimination to those on low income who need that extra help.
