Change the voting system from First Past The Post to Instant Runoff Voting

Instant Runoff Voting is a ranked voting system. Voters rank the candidates and the first choice votes are counted. The candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, with those votes being assigned to their second choice candidate and so on until one person achieves a 50% vote share.

Many people are dissatisfied with FPTP, as people can feel that the votes they cast are wasted unless they vote for one of the main parties. Instant Runoff Voting would ensure that we keep the local constituency system, one of the greatest strengths of FPTP, while improving the ability of the people to vote for the candidates they want, rather than the one they don’t want the least and increasing the degree of proportionality of the election results.
