Remove the extra, unnecessary charges from vehicle tax. Council tax can be paid in one go or over 10 or 12 months and the cost remains the same, yet with vehicle tax, if you pay other than the full year in one go it costs more - up to 10% more for paying every 6 months without a direct debit.

The extra charges made sense when people were involved, writing and posting pieces of paper, but in the digital age this is no longer the case. The additional charges work out as an extra tax, which is usually felt most by the poorest members of society.
Removing the extra charges on vehicle tax will allowing people to pay their car tax how they like and not be penalised for doing so, while also helping them budget better.
